Phaëton's Death

Here's a little series about Phaeton's demise, done from imagination (similar to the Actaeon post). The story of Phaeton is another myth in which someone dies tragically after overstepping their boundaries. Phaeton, a mortal son of Apollo, journey's to find his father and is granted a wish of anything his heart desires from his father. To impress his friends, he requests to drive the Chariot of the Sun. Apollo warns him not to ask for this this but Phaeton insists. Phaeton ignorantly has a less-than-smooth ride along the pathway of the Sun and, long story short, drives the chariot far too close to Earth, almost burns it up, and ends up getting zapped by one of Zeus' thunderbolts. He falls to his death. The moral of the story: if you're granted a wish by your immortal father, ask for money. Here's Phaeton's trajectory chronicled:
